A Timely Solution for You
Retina South Africa was proud to be invited by the South African Optometric Association to present a poster at their very successful and well-attended Centennial Conference.
Have you ever wondered why your wait at the ophthalmologist is so long? The answer lies in the reality of eyecare in South Africa, as presented in the poster. There are far too few ophthalmologists throughout South Africa, especially in state institutions. This results in a heavy burden on all staff and on people requiring care.
Retina South Africa proposes a solution to the lengthy queues, crammed waiting rooms, long waiting times for appointments, limited consultation times, and few referrals.
By collaborating with optometrists throughout the country, we can provide many services such as education, advice, support, and referrals to other appropriate professionals.
The good news for eye care professionals is that referring to Retina South Africa is very easy. Using the free Vula App takes only about two minutes for a referral.
Our poster presentation created a buzz of interest and stimulated conversations with many optometrists who recognized the multiple advantages of working with us. Hopefully, together we will be able to streamline ophthalmic care for all South Africans.
