Swing for Sight
Swing for Sight: Where Sport Meets Purpose
Swing for Sight is more than just a charity golf day — it’s a powerful swing toward a future without blindness. Hosted annually by Retina South Africa in proud partnership with the Dis-Chem Foundation, this event brings together para-athletes, corporate champions, and changemakers for an unforgettable day on the green.
Beyond the fairway, Swing for Sight raises awareness about visual impairments and the daily challenges faced by those affected. By uniting players, sponsors, and spectators, it fosters empathy, promotes inclusion, and empowers community connection.
The day also shines a spotlight on visually impaired athletes, whose strength and skill inspire all who watch. Their presence breaks down stereotypes and redefines what ability looks like — proving that sport is for everyone.
Every swing helps fund medical research, drive support services, and advance initiatives that enhance the lives of South Africans living with retinal degenerative conditions.
Join us in building a future where vision knows no boundaries — where athleticism and advocacy go hand in hand.
MEET OUR 2025 RETINA TEAM
Introducing Manie Blom – one of the new faces of Team Retina SA!
We’re thrilled to welcome him to Team Retina SA at this year’s Swing For Sight!
Diagnosed with Stargardt’s at age 9, Manie is a Paralympian, 12-time national champ, and African record holder in shot put and discus. Oh and he also won the Blind Golf Open (NET) in 2019.
From the athletics field to the fairway, Manie shows us what unstoppable really looks like. We can’t wait to see him in action.
This year, the visually impaired 4-ball team is proudly sponsored by Nuture Vision – a partner who deeply believes in the power of para sport to break barriers, uplift communities, and change lives. Their support goes far beyond branding; it’s a statement of belief in ability, inclusion, and a future where vision loss doesn’t mean being left behind.
