RIDE FOR SIGHT 2025
RACE REPORT
The 36th Dis-Chem Ride for Sight cycle race held at the Boksburg City Stadium attracted a record post covid entry field of more than 3300 riders, reflecting an enormous increase on the previous year’s entry numbers.
Over the past 35 years, the cycle event has raised an impressive R12 million, with all proceeds directed to Retina South Africa. This funding empowers them to fully pursue their mission of restoring the gift of sight.
The overnight rain mercifully cleared before the start of the race affording the riders near perfect conditions on their undulating 116km trip from and to the Boksburg Stadium
In the men’s race Christiaan Klopper a multiple classics winner, albeit with this victory having eluded him to date, emerged as the winner, beating the former National Road Race champion and Grand Tour rider Reinhardt Janse van Rensburg into second spot with the rapidly emerging junior Gustav Roller filling the bottom rung of the men’s podium
